July was a busy month at You’re Maker! August has been quiet as we took a break to get ready for school. Hope you all are having a smooth transition into schedules and homework!
Here are a few (many) pictures from July. As always, email me if you have a project or technique you would like to learn.
We had our first Tiny Makers class! We talked about hand sewing safety and straight stitches. They made these cute heart pillows.
Donuts anyone? Who doesn’t need a donut pin cushion?
The donuts required hand sewing for the big girls too!
I taught the advanced sewers at Brookwood’s Sewing Camp! We made animal pencil cases.
Little purses with lots of skills including inside zipper pockets and bias tape!
Our warm-up project was emoji pillows! This one was turned into a unicorn!
That’s a bunch of emojis.
Lots of chatting!
Back at You’re Maker we had a Pajama Pants class!
…and a drawstring backpack class!
…and another Tiny Maker class!
Private lessons were fun too!
See you in the second half of August and keep a look out for the September schedule coming soon!
May is a crazy month for most of us. For this reason, the May schedule is light. In June, we will be back to business as usual.
Don’t forget to check out the Sewing Camp at Brookwood if your child wants to be immersed in sewing goodness for 4 days straight May 23-26. It is open to everyone! There is also a sewing camp in July.
There are a few May classes already available!! I couldn’t wait! You all are so inspiring and fun..thank you! Check them out here.
That’s right, folks. April is upon us. Stay tuned for an announcement of a class by a guest teacher!!
National Superhero Day is April 28! What does that have to do with You’re Maker, you ask? The bags will be made by me! For more details..read the poster! You can call 229.234.1222 to nominate a superhero.
We made faces…..ba duh.
These girls are amazing. Fun…creative…polite…funny….awesome…kid makers. Working with these girls is the highlight of my week.
You should come to a February class…look how much fun these girls had in January…

A few weeks ago I had a class filled with awesome young women who were so enthusiastic to sew it almost made me cry with joy!
I have a bunch of friends that run and who tell me that a runner’s high is the best. I have tried running…. I have never felt so good as I do every time I make something. I would describe it as a high. Creative highs. I digress. I’m just happy when young people get that
These girls were awesome. Such a fun class. We made snap wallets. You know….wallets with snaps.
The class was fantastic until we hit a snap with the snaps. For whatever reason….the snaps did not want to be installed. It took hard work, and determination…problem solving…and a few broken snaps….but we finished every wallet! It was a great lesson in…figuring it out! Make it work..as Tim Gunn would say.
